Travel, Reunions and Weddings

The past few days have flown by in a whirlwind of activity.

Tuesday we flew from Norfolk, Virginia, to Portland, Oregon, to attend a family wedding on Halloween.

Our airline of choice is Southwest, and the pride that the Southwest employees take in their work was evident throughout the day. The flight attendants on our first flight, which lasted six hours, tried their best to keep us busy with multiple snack deliveries and creative games, spaced throughout the trip.

As our first flight was somewhat delayed due to weather, we had to hustle through the Vegas airport to make our connecting flight, and I was convinced that our luggage would never make it. However, when we arrived at the baggage claim area in Portland, the first bags on the conveyer belt were ours!

Many thanks to all the good people of Southwest Airlines who made our trip as pleasant as air travel can be these days!

Wednesday we spent the day with my youngest sister and her husband, on a driving tour of Portland while running errands in preparation for my niece’s wedding ~ a Halloween Costume Ball.

We did manage a quick stop at a local tie dye shop, in search of a t-shirt for Keith’s costume. The tie dye shop was next door to a music shop, so of course we had to check it out as well.

Late yesterday afternoon, my other sister and her husband arrived from Grove, Oklahoma, so the three sisters and partners spent the evening catching up, and enjoying the company of my niece and her fiance.

Today, we make multiple airport runs to welcome my nephew and his girlfriend, and my other niece and her boyfriend, and tour the Clair Vintage Inspired studio, as the bride-to-be is a respected fashion designer in the Portland area.

Plans for the rest of the week include a trip to the pumpkin patch, a pumpkin carving party, a wedding, and the much-anticipated costume ball!

I’ll fill you in on the activities as the week progresses…it will be a fun time with lots of great memories 🙂

  1. I hope you’ll post pictures of your Halloween costumes! SB

    • You bet! There happens to be a rumor going around Portland music circles that Sonny and Cher could be making an appearance ~ we’ll keep you “posted” (pun intended) 🙂

  2. Looking forward to photos.
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and happy that you are enjoying life!
