Full Bellies ~ Happy Hearts

It’s just about 5 p.m. here in Truth or Consequences…almost dusk.

The outdoor temperature is 62 degrees, and the winds are calm.

A few stray clouds dot the sky…hints that a bit of weather may be on the way….but maybe not. It’s hard to tell here in New Mexico.

The Thanksgiving table is cleared, the dishes washed, and Keith and I are settling in for a night of listening to Harry Potter.

Aahhh, life is good!

This morning, Keith whipped up two gorgeous pumpkin pies, while I made mashed potatoes and gravy…our contributions to the communal supper we shared with our co-workers at Riverbend Hot Springs, and some of the guests who were spending the Thanksgiving holiday here in T or C.

At 2 p.m. we gathered on the covered patio next to the Rio Grande River, to enjoy a fine feast and one another’s company.

The "Spread"

Our table held all the traditional favorites: turkey and ham, potatoes (white and sweet), gravy, green bean casserole, cranberries, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and a host of other side dishes and tempting sweets.

Thanksgiving on the Rio Grande

We finished our meal off with a lovely bottle of Port, and more conversation.

It’s the second “non-traditional” Thanksgiving meal that Keith and I have enjoyed ~ our first being in White Springs, Florida, last year ~ and by “non-traditional”, I mean Thanksgiving dinner shared with folks that the universe brings together by virtue of circumstance, as opposed to a meal shared with close family members and friends.

It may be different from what we are used to, but it can still be delicious and a lot of fun!

Happy Thanksgiving from me to you!
