First Show of the New Year

Keith and I are looking forward to starting our new year off right, with a rocking good show at 7 p.m. this Friday night, January 6th, at the Ivory Tusk Tavern.

Today we took the 10 minute drive from T or C over to our neighboring town of Elephant Butte, to meet Jack and the crew at the Ivory Tusk, to talk about logistics for the show.

The Tavern and Restaurant are part of the Elephant Butte Inn, and it was so exciting to drive up and see our name on the marquee!

Our name in "lights"!

The town of Elephant Butte sits alongside Elephant Butte Dam and Reservoir – the largest lake in New Mexico, with more than 200 miles of shoreline, and Elephant Butte State Park.

The reservoir, park and town are named for the huge outcropping of rock at the southern part of the reservoir, that looks just like an elephant.

We understand that it’s a hopping place in warm weather, and I have to tell you that the lake and surrounding land is breathtaking!

We’re not talking about a sweet little tree-lined little fishing lake….oh no, this meandering body of water on the Rio Grande is surrounded by huge rocky bluffs and canyons, scrubby desert plants and outlying mountain ranges, with an incredible expanse of deep blue sky above.

What a fantastic setting for the Elephant Butte Inn.

The tavern is a welcoming and comfy place, with a long bar and plenty of tables for guests to sit back and enjoy the show.

We’re planning on keeping the place rocking from 7-9 p.m., so come on out to see us if you’re in the neighborhood!
