Snapshots: 1/17/12

Some days, all I want to do is post a few photos and comments, rather than generating a lengthy blog post.

Today is one of those days, and it inspired me to create a new type of post that you will start seeing on occasion, going forward…..I’ll call these posts “Snapshots”. They will be dated, so we can tell one from another.

Here is my inaugural Snapshot!

Our weather in T or C is gorgeous….sunny and warm, so Keith and decided to grab a quick lunch at Groovy Gritz, spend the afternoon at Elephant Butte Lake, and then stop at the Ivory Tusk Tavern at the Elephant Butte Inn, for a cocktail.

Here’s how it went…

Catty Jones decided to stay home and hang out in her fort while we walked downtown for lunch.

Once in a while, we’ve got to indulge in the Green Chile Chicken Stack at Groovy Gritz…..fondly referred to as “The Heart Attack”, it’s comfort food at its finest!

I made a point of including our big Chevy Pick-up in this photo, to give you an idea of the monumental scale of this lake and its surroundings.

Keith and I were the only ones there yesterday afternoon, and we walked the beach in the total silence of this other-worldly, beautiful place.

After leaving the lake, we stopped in to see our friend, Jack, at the Ivory Tusk Tavern, imbibe a little, and visit with locals and guests at the bar.

One of the guests, George Jones, is an artist traveling through the area while on business.

We enjoyed chatting about music and art, and whatever else came up.

When we got home, we looked up George’s website and were totally impressed with his work.

  1. Love the photo. Thank goodness I was not in it alone to mak it a bad photo. Really enjoyed meeting you both. You are a great fun couple.
